Why Social Media Works
When was the last time you wished your old friend from high school a happy birthday in person? When was the last time you were walking through your local area and saw exactly what you needed without having to enter the store? When was the last time you drove around the city, marking down every house for sale?
People don’t realize how beneficial social media is for us. We often take for granted how many amazing things we’ve been able to do because of it. Facebook reminds us of birthdays we’d otherwise forget; shopping on places like Amazon, buy sell and trade pages, or other online stores allow us to search for exactly what we need; and house hunting has become so easy thanks to websites dedicated to real estate.
We are living in an amazing time where social media can help us see and share what we need, when we need it, to the people that want to view it. Just imagine, getting your perfect client with a few clicks, and some determination. Imagine getting to know your client so well, because you can communicate with them whenever you need, and you can share your life online, helping to build trust; that’s why blogs are so amazing.
Social media is how you get your name out into the world nowadays. The reason social media works is because almost everyone uses it. The data is recorded for you and you can build a name for yourself with a platform that highlights all your accomplishments, and gives you the option to get personal, so people can get to know the real you. You have access to everything you need, including video chat, which helps with high-ticket marketing, like you would not believe.
Targeting
Social media gives us access to people we normally wouldn’t have in our contacts, places we normally wouldn’t have the time to visit, and it gives us the ability to target. Yes, we can target people that actually want to see what we have to offer through various social media platforms, using different options such as, common interests, likes, locations, etc.
So imagine being able to watch patterns, taking that information, and getting the perfect clients. Imagine showing up on someone’s newsfeed, and you have the very thing they’re looking for. That is why targeting and social media are so outstanding! It’s not like a telemarketing job where they call and call, but no one wants to answer. Having the ability to target brings you followers that care, and people that are genuinely interested in what you have to say and offer. You just can’t do this without social media, unless you forced everyone in your area to take surveys, but even then, it doesn’t bring you the same results as the widespread social media can.
Trust Building
Blogging allows you to share your inner thoughts and ideas, and personal tidbits that help future clients receive value and gain trust. People love having value added to their lives. People love how-tos, and “5-step Plans” so much, that they’ll literally spend hours reading them because it makes them feel more prepared, intelligent and like they have more control over the situation. I mean, who doesn’t hate being left in the dark; we want to know what makes the successful, successful. We want to feel like we can trust those who are at the top of their game, and the best way to create that trust is through sharing.
Never underestimate the power of a blog. Even if you just shared your morning routine as a real estate agent, or how you manage your spendings, people would be all over it. They want to see inside the life of those who work hard. And even if you aren’t a huge success yet, blogs allow you to start from scratch, too.
Building trust starts from the ground up. If you were to share your life from the very start, or the incredible ideas you have, it would be painting a huge “humble-beginnings” picture. People want to know your human, and there is no better way to show it, than by writing a blog and sharing your inner world.
How it Affects Real Estate
Real estate is online now, for the most part anyway. Change is always happening. Even real estate agents skills have changed over the years. So, how can social media, and blogging help?
It all begins with trust and value.
If you haven’t noticed by now, trust and value have been mentioned several times. Being on social media, blogging, and sharing your life through pictures, videos, snap-chats, etc. give people the insider, the “what’s new”, the real look at your life. It all adds value as well. Just exciting, and sharing your passion inspires people to live their dreams and that’s an immense amount of value, but by blogging, and sharing your ideas, you give so much more. Clients will be hungry to buy homes from people who enjoy selling them. When you have a presence online, it also helps keep a connection between homeowners and real estate agents. The list could go on and on.
Keeping in contact is one of the biggest factors in closing a home. If they can’t get ahold of you, they’ll move on to someone else. Social media, with messages, video chats, and various other platforms allows you to keep in contact. They want to trust you, and they want to feel like they can get the home of their dreams because you were there for them.
Houses are an extremely high-ticket item, so if you can’t build trust, there’s no point in expecting to sell anything, anytime soon.
Lastly, targeting, as mentioned previously gets you the right views for what you’re trying to sell. This kind of data can only be found on social media.
